Sacred Soul Death Doula

Sacred Soul Death Doula

It's my honor to walk alongside individuals and their loved ones as they navigate the dying process. I offer my presence, my hands, and my heart — steady guidance and practical support — so that no one has to face this journey alone.

Emotional and Spiritual Support

-Active listening & compassionate presence
-Legacy work & life review
-Vigil planning & sacred space creation
-Grief support
As a death doula, my work begins with presence — sitting quietly with my clients, truly listening, letting them lead the way through whatever they need to share. Together, we often turn to legacy work, looking back over a life well-lived, capturing the stories and wisdom that matter most to pass on. As the time draws nearer, I help plan a vigil that honors who they are, creating a sacred space filled with meaning rather than fear. And when the moment comes, my presence doesn't end with goodbye — I stay to offer grief support for those left behind, walking alongside them as they learn to carry their loss.

Practical Support

-Family respite time
-Advanced care planning guidance
-End of life document preparation
-Care team coordination
-After death care and support
As your death doula, I show up in the moments that matter most — giving you and your loved ones a few hours to rest, walking with you through hard decisions, and helping get important papers in order so there's one less thing to worry about. I help bring the care team together, and help everyone move forward with the same heart. And when the time comes to say goodbye, I stay — because the care, and the support, doesn't end there.

Who I Serve

I welcome individuals from every background, belief, age, and walk of life — because no two journeys look the same, and every one deserves care that honors that. Whether you're navigating a terminal diagnosis, caring for an aging loved one, or simply feel called to prepare thoughtfully for what's ahead, I'm here to walk beside you, wherever you are on that path.

A little about me

My name is Joanna Frye and I am a North Carolina native living in Wilmington, NC. As an artist, designer, and life coach I have always been drawn to creativity and connection, which are crucial pieces in the journey we take through the dying process. The seed for work as a death doula was planted years ago, as my grandpa was dying. I remember sitting in the room with him, and something in me stayed calm, present, unafraid to hold his hand and be there in the silence. In that moment, I realized this was something I could offer — not just to my own family, but to others facing the same kind of loss.
Over the years, as I've experienced more loss myself, and as I've worked with hospice patients and their families, I've come to understand just how important a calm, steady presence can be. That calm is something I want to share with those who are still searching for their own. I want to be the steady presence for others — the person in the room who isn't afraid — so families can lean on me instead of carrying that fear alone. If I can bring the same calm I had with my grandpa to someone else's hardest moment, that's exactly where I want to be.

Let's start the Conversation

I offer a free, no-pressure phone consultation — a chance for us to simply get to know one another and see if we feel like a good fit for this sacred journey together. I'd love to hear about your specific needs, and those of your loved ones. From there, we can find a meaningful, intentional path forward — one that honors this process, and honors you.
